Once you have designed a pulse campaign you can decide to send it out once (single pulse), or multiple times at intervals of your choice (recurring pulse).

This article will give you an idea of what types of questions are better suited to single pulses and recurring pulses.

Single pulse questions

Single pulses help you get quick pieces of feedback and are best for questions you don't expect to ask again, or often. Example questions could be:

  • How do you feel about working from home again?

  • How has lockdown affected you most?

  • Did you enjoy our activities for World Mental Health Day?

  • How do you feel about the head office relocation?

Recurring pulse questions

Recurring pulses help you find trends and track how things are progressing. These are best for questions you want to ask regularly, or in the near future. Example questions could be:

  • How is your mental wellbeing this week?

  • How fulfilled do you feel in your role?

  • Do you understand the company mission?

  • How was your day yesterday?

Rule-based pulse surveys give you more control in who you send your recurring pulse questions to. For instance, you might want to check in with your new starters by asking the same question over a few weeks. Find out how to set this up here!
