Use two-factor authentication with Stribe to strengthen your account security by using two methods to verify your identity when logging in.

Here at Stribe, data protection and security are as important to us as we know they are to you. This is why we’ve now introduced the option for you to add two-factor authentication to our software.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) allows you to request a security code from a smartphone (iPhone or Android) in order to login to Stribe. Find out more below 👇

How to enable two-factor authentication on Stribe

Admin users can manage 2FA within their settings in Stribe, under Preferences.

As an admin you can set 2FA to be:

  • Optional (employees choose to switch it on for their accounts)

  • On for Admins only

  • On for Everyone (Admins and Employees)

Follow the steps below to turn on 2FA:

  1. Log in to your ‘Admin’ profile on Stribe

  2. Click on ‘Settings’

  3. Select ‘Preferences’

  4. Under ‘Two-factor authentication’ select which option you would like in the dropdown

  5. Confirm

⚠️ Important: You need to ensure your Stribe users have access to a smart device if you’re setting 2FA for everyone, otherwise they won’t be able to login to Stribe.

How to manage 2FA

Admins can manage 2FA for their organisation. If it is optional for your organisation and an employee has enabled 2FA for their account, they can also manage it following the steps below.

To turn off 2FA:

  1. Click on ‘Settings’ then ‘Preferences’

  2. Underneath two-factor authentication select ‘Disable’

  3. Select ‘Confirm’.

How to log in using two-factor authentication on Stribe

There are no changes to the first step to logging in. You will see a screen allowing you to choose either your admin or employee account (if you are both).

If you have enabled 2FA, you will be prompted to download an authentication app, or add Stribe to your existing authentication app, using the QR code on the screen.

Once complete, the authenticator app will automatically create a 6-digit code that you’ll need to input into Stribe to gain access.

Two-factor FAQS

Is two-factor authentication suitable for our organisation?

2FA is a great feature to ensure maximum security when logging in, however, you need to have access to a smart device to use 2FA, this means it is not suitable for companies that have employees who do not have access to a smartphone. It could be a good alternative to have the 2FA access for admin users only in this instance.

Is Stribe still safe without using 2FA?

Absolutely! Our login process is unique - with a magic link being sent to the email of only the person who’s trying to access Stribe, giving you multi-factor protection. We also encourage you to use a unique and strong password for your account to protect your manual login.
